While wandering the aisles at the Boston Wine Expo, I came upon a table with Neige Apple Ice Wine. I have been a fan of Neige for a few years and convinced my friend Dale to try it. He enjoyed it and we then continued our wandering. Soon after, I came upon another table offering apple ice wine from a new winery in Massachusetts. I had never heard of this winery before and was very intrigued so I had to stop to check it out. More…

I made a follow up post about Apfel Eis on my blog at http://passionatefoodie.blogspot.com/2009/02/apfel-eis-vs-neige-battle-royale.html
You can find out about my tasting test comparing Apfel Eis to Neige apple ice wine.
Thanks Richard! Look forward to meeting you at the “eat-up” and to future blog posts at your blog.
Thanks to everyone for their kind words on my post. And thanks as well to the others who have tried and enjoyed this wine too. Glad to see others feel the same way as I did about it.
I will be posting more about the Apfel Eis in the near future. I have a bottle and will be putting it head to head agains the Neige apple ice wine, as well as pairing it with a few food items. Should be interesting.
Thanks for the comments all.
Ice wine has never touched these lips and I have a hankering to try this vintage.
Thanks to Richard for an intriguing post. For more about Aplfel Elis, you are going to want to make sure you read his post here.
Thanks for dropping by.
I tasted this wine once with a comparison to a few ciders and found this to be much more complex and enjoyable. Very delicious, excited to see it in more restaurants!!
Richard,
Great write up on the apple ice wine! I haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but your entry has made me want to get to the store very soon to pick up a bottle! Thanks
I’d never tried an apple ice wine so I was intrigued by this. The aroma comes through with a crisp apples and a slight hint of tartness.
I expected this to be cloyingly sweet based on the nose but was pleasantly surprised by the balanced sweetness and apple tartness that created a well rounded flavor. I’m interested in trying Neige now after reading this article to compare.
This was some of the best Ice Wine i’ve had, it hit the perfect amount of sweetness.
