Meet-Up Two

Thursday last, 40-plus of you invaded the station for the second local food blogger meet-up hosted by 90.9. (click here to read about our fist event) For a couple of hours that evening, local food bloggers outnumbered radio personnel. Had a coup been successfully staged, you’d now be tuning to “Boston’s NPR Food Station.” (Heck, we’ve already had JJ Gonson on the air. I say its only fair that we give others a crack at the mic).

Those that attended know we structured things differently this time around. First, we had four facilitated “break-out” sessions covering a range of food blogging related topics (Please see David Karp’s summary of the session he attended). That was followed by time for networking and then a discussion about what 90.9 is trying to accomplish in this space. (So engrossed in conversation we were, that we sadly forgot to snap photographs of the event. If you did, I would be grateful if you added to the PRK group).

90.9 is hugely indebted to Linsey Herman, the organizational genius behind this event. It was she who came up with the itinerary, including the breakout sessions, and recruited the facilitators for each of the latter. And thanks as well go out to the facilitators as well as those who attended with gifts of food.

A final note of thanks to Lexy Winter, whose participation marked her final internship duties with 90.9. Lexy, having finished her studies at Boston University as well as having to far too long endured my poor spelling and creative whims, is off to made what an indisputably big mark on the world. She certainly has in here, having left the Public Radio Kitchen in much better shape then it was when she came to WBUR earlier this year. Thank you Lexy!

I’ve endeavored to list all the participants, but as I am Lexy-less, I may have missed a few of your names, or conversely listed folks who were not in attendance. Please let me know if your name is among them.

Thank you for participating. Your feedback is always welcome!

  • Thanks, Ken and Lindsey, for pulling this all together, and Pam for leading a great session. Was my first time meeting a whole host of fellow bloggers and I loved putting faces and live personalities behind the words and photos.

Delighted you could put David’s tips to use Jen!

    Thanks all!

  • Ken, Thanks again for hosting a great event. It was both informative and fun, and we enjoyed the opportunity to get to know some of the terrific people that make up the greater food blogging community.
